The goal of this project was to revamp an organization’s website of our choice. Being a lover of video games, I decided to work with Extra Life, an organization where participants do video game marathons in order to raise money for children’s hospitals all over North America. Before designing:
Pick three pages from their existing website to redesign.
Build a site map to shed clarity on the site’s function.
Build the bones before the meat: the wireframes.
I picked three pages from their website I wanted to redesign; The home page, community, and FAQ. I built a sitemap to clean up what the website would consist of, and based on that I proceeded to build the wireframes. In order to accommodate to the early Gen Z audience, I wanted to exaggerate a video game aesthetic by nodding to a retro theme. The wireframes were made for desktop and mobile, and a style sheet was made to settle on an aesthetic to apply once the wireframes were close to being final. The goal was to make the wireframes as perfect as possible in order to make the designing a smooth sail.
