The second assignment for our Social & Cultural Promotional Design class was to design a poster on an issue of choice. The topic I chose to work on was objectification.
My biggest fear with this project was to turn my design into something cliche or repeated. My main goal was to avoid that to the best of my ability.
I wanted to draw attention to the notion of a faceless body along with a distorted reality associated with the topic of objectification.
With the unrelenting presence of objectification towards people, I wanted to express my own interpretation, or response to what “a piece of meat” really is. I wanted to play with the reality and vulnerability of the skin we live in, judging the romanticized or sexualized view of our body parts.
